NFT stands for Non-Fungible Token, and NFT artwork refers to digital art that is authenticated and tracked using blockchain technology through the use of NFTs. NFTs are unique digital tokens that represent ownership of a particular piece of digital content, such as an artwork, music, or video file.
Unlike NFT collections, which are a series of NFTs that share a common theme or style, NFT artworks are a unique, individual digital asset that represents a specific work of art.

To simplify the post, we will use a digital paintings as exemple for the future
2. How to make NFT artwork selecting suitable blockchain
When creating an NFT artwork, selecting a blockchain is a crucial step in the process. The blockchain you choose will determine the features and capabilities of your NFT, as well as its compatibility with different marketplaces and wallets.
There are several popular blockchains for creating NFTs, each with its own advantages and limitations.
When selecting a blockchain for your NFT artwork, consider factors such as :
- transaction fees
- ease of use
- community support
- the specific features you require
- marketplace integration liquidity
If you are a newcomer to the realm of NFTs, Ethereum and Polygon are the top recommended options for you to consider.
- Ethereum is currently the most widely used blockchain for NFTs, offering highest liquidity, a robust ecosystem of marketplaces (like Blur, Opeansea or Rarible) and wallets. However, the costs related to transaction fees can sometimes be exorbitant, especially when you start.
- Polygon as layer-2 scaling solution built on Ethereum (check what is polygon here) that aims to provide faster and cheaper transactions than ethereum. The lower transaction fees on Polygon can make it easier for artists and collectors to buy and sell NFTs without being hindered by high gas fees. In addition, Polygon has gained significant adoption in the NFT space, with several popular NFT marketplaces such as OpenSea and rarity, launching on the network
We highly recommend starting on the polygon network if you’re a beginner, considering the reasons stated earlier.
3. Set up your wallet
As previously mentioned, Polygon functions as a layer 2 solution for Ethereum, allowing both blockchains to utilize the same wallet for deploying your NFT.
To keep things straightforward, we’ll walk through setting up your wallet with Metamask. While there are certainly other solutions available besides Metamask, we have chosen not to mention them in this article to keep things concise and avoid overwhelming the reader.
Once you’ve set up your wallet, all that’s left is to select your network (in this case, we’ve chosen Polygon).
Let’s go through the process step by step.
- Install the Metamask browser extension: Metamask is a browser extension that can be used with Chrome, Firefox, Brave, and Edge. Visit the Metamask website and download the extension for your browser.
- Create a new wallet: Once the extension is installed, click on the Metamask icon in your browser and follow the prompts to create a new wallet. Make sure to set a strong password to secure your account and write down your seed phrase and keep it in a safe place.
- Select the right network: If you haven’t changed the default settings, MetaMask is already set to the Ethereum network. In that case, you don’t need to take any action. However, if you wish to create your NFT artwork on Polygon, please follow the steps below to add polygon network.
- Add funds on your wallet: To create NFT artwork, you need to have sufficient funds in your wallet. You can add funds to your Metamask wallet by transfering $MATIC directly from an exchange like Binance to your wallet (your address). However, it is important to ensure that you transfer funds to the correct network (here polygon network).
Congrats! After completing these steps, you’ll be able to use Metamask to interact with the Polygon ecosystem and create NFT artwork on the Polygon network.
4. Choose the suitable platform
NFTs have revolutionized the art world by providing artists with a new way to showcase and sell their digital artwork. However, getting started with NFTs can be confusing, especially when it comes to putting your artwork online. In this blog post, we’ll discuss the two main options available for artists who want to sell their NFT artwork online.
The first option is to use a marketplace. There are several NFT marketplaces available, each with its own unique features and benefits. One marketplace we strongly recommend is Opensea. Opensea is the largest NFT marketplace in the world, with the largest number of users to date. It’s user-friendly, intuitive, and easy to navigate, making it an excellent choice for artists who are new to NFTs.
The second option is to create your own personalized site using NFT maker lab. While this option is currently under construction, it’s an exciting prospect for artists who want to have complete control over their NFT artwork’s sale and distribution. NFT maker lab allows you to create your own NFT mint website without needing to know how to code, making it an excellent option for artists who are not technically inclined.
